Settle My Heart Lord

Father, I look at my life as it is and wonder how You could even possibly use me in Your kingdom. Your kingdom that represents love and life, peace and freedom and grace.  The very parts of my life that are broken.

My heart yearns for nothing more than to simply live a life dedicated to You. Every Action. Every Word. Every Gesture. But I struggle. I struggle with the reality of this statement. For I live amidst darkness. A darkness that looks at me and sees a failure. A useless incomplete waste of space attempting to shine a light where it doesn’t belong.

And it’s only through Your presence in my life that the light continues to shine. Through Your Son alone I can truly experience the love and life, peace and freedom and grace that comes from You. And only then do I stand ready to share Your kingdom with the world. For it’s by Your strength and not my own that Your will is accomplished.

Thus I pray…

Settle my heart Lord. Calm my spirit. And strengthen my faith in You. For my legs are weak and I feel a bit apprehensive. As I stand here in the darkness about to take yet another step remind me I am not alone. That You will place my feet firmly where they belong. And carry me when I cannot stand. Allow me to grab ahold of Your coat tail and follow You so closely that our bodies move as one. So that even when I can’t see through the darkness I can find rest in Your guidance and safety in Your arms.
